“Ulhaas”, the very word conjures up an imagery of sheer joy, fun, festivity, and frolic. That is precisely what the Bengali Cultural Association of Utah is all about. The Bengali population of Utah is close to two hundred people which is very low compared to many other cities in the United States, but that is what has been our core competence through the years. We have been able to consciously retain the “ghoroa” feel in our Durga and Saraswati Pujas over the last 15 odd years and hope to continue that tradition even as the numbers happily and gently rise. Like all quintessential Bengalis, our community too indulges in music, art, dance, and of course the subtle and surreal world of gastronomy. We work hard, we play harder, and then we eat really well.
