“Ulhaas”, the very word conjures up an imagery of sheer joy, fun, festivity, and frolic. That is precisely what the Bengali Cultural Association of Utah is all about. Welcome to our page and our community. If you are a resident of Utah, or planning to move here and in both cases have a Bengali disposition, we hope this portal will provide you with key information that will further your interest in Ulhaas and make you an active participant here.
The Bengali population of Utah is close to two hundred people which is very low compared to many other cities in the United States, but that is what has been our core competence through the years. We have been able to consciously retain the “ghoroa” feel in our Durga and Saraswati Pujas over the last 15 odd years and hope to continue that tradition even as the numbers happily and gently rise. Like all quintessential Bengalis, our community too indulges in music, art, dance, and of course the subtle and surreal world of gastronomy. We work hard, we play harder, and then we eat really well.
How We Connect
Ulhaas has been instrumental in providing a beautiful glimpse into the cultural and social nuances of Bengal to the people of Utah. It is our earnest wish to do this in new and meaningful ways with consistency and regularity in the coming years. Every financial contribution made to the organization will be used towards facilitating and organizing various cultural and socially responsible events.
Ulhaas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The Tax ID is 463828384
